There are currently significant requirements for storage of patient samples during the Covid-19 pandemic.   Samples are required for a variety of reasons including diagnostic, treatment, tracking and vaccine development.  Proper storage and protection of these samples is critical.

The CDC has published specific guidance around Covid-19 samples as follows

• Patient samples should be stored between 2C-8C unless being held for over 72 hours.
• If being stored longer than 72 hours samples must be stored at -70C
