High Volume Sampling and Analysis of Volatile PFAS Compounds in Air Using Thermal Desorption and GC-MS/MS

May 18, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Objective:

PFAS are a diverse group of chemicals that due to their persistence in the environment may be linked to harmful health effects in humans and animals. These chemicals are use in a wide range of consumer, commercial. and industrial products. Join Kurt Thaxton from GERSTEL and Tarun Anumol from Agilent to hear the latest on standard analytical methods of testing PFAS in air, water, and consumer products.

Key Learnings:

  • Why PFAS is not just a water problem, but an air problem too
  • Where is PFAS found, and how is it measured?
  • What exactly are the PFAS compounds seen in the air?
  • What’s going on in the regulatory communities to address PFAS in air?

Speaker Bio:

Kurt Thaxton, GERSTEL Product Manager

Kurt Thaxton is an International Product Manager for GERSTEL, a German manufacturer of thermal desorption, pyrolysis, and other means of sample introduction for GCMS. Kurt serves actively in SAE, AIHA, ISO, and currently a Vice-Chair of ASTM’s D22 Air Quality group. Kurt has an M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from The Ohio State University.
